CHICO >> At 1:14 p.m. there was a report of shots fired at the Flyer's gas station on the corner of Pillsbury and Cohasset roads.
Two damaged vehicles were in the parking lot and four men were being questioned by police as of 4 p.m. today.
The cars traveled to the parking area between Wendy's Restaurant and the Bank of America.
No bullets were found in buildings and no passersby were injured, Chico police said at the scene.
Police arrived and detained four suspects who had been on foot, and another suspect was taken to Enloe Medical Center, with unknown injuries, said Chico Police Lt. Ted McKinnon, who briefed reporters after 3 p.m.
Three Asian males are also being sought in the incident, the lieutenant said. They were wearing dark clothing and one is suspected to have a handgun.
"We're not sure how they are involved," the officer said.
Several businesses around the scene were put on lockdown when police first arrived at the scene. A white truck was on its side, with the windshield smashed, just west of Panda Express. A red passenger car with a dented hood was facing Pillsbury Road in the parking lot.
Also, Friday night the statue of Gen. Vang Pao, located on the west side of the Chico Council Chambers, was damaged. The head of the statue was knocked off and the statue was knocked off its base.
The statue of the revered Hmong general was unveiled during the Hmong New Year celebration in December 2012.
Lt. McKinnon said he did not have information about whether the vandalism was related to the celebration or reported fight or shooting.
